On Sunday, May 18 countries from around the world celebrate International Museum Day. This day is organized to encourage public awareness of the role of museums in the development of society. Now in it's 37th year and coordinated by the International Council of Museums, this effort has the participation of over 30,000 museums in over 120 countries.
Visiting a museum is an excellent way to support this cause. Here at the Syosset Public Library, you have access to our Museum Pass Program. Free museum passes, including the Long Island Children's Museum, Cradle Of Aviation, the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum and the Museum of Modern Art (just to name a few) are available to Syosset Public Library cardholders in good standing. Advanced reservations are required.
