Happy spring to everyone! Well, technically it is spring -- but if you were to look outside you would feel like nature is pulling an early April Fools Day prank on us with all of this snow.
Fear not though. Flowers will be popping up soon enough -- and so will new adaptations of some of your favorite children's books!
Count Olaf |
Last year Netflix gave us a new series based on Lemony Snicket's A Serious of Unfortunate Events. With Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf, each episode was perfectly peculiar and should have left fans of the series pleased.
This year the The Baudelaire's and Olaf return to face off once again, and added to the cast are the Quagmire twins -- errr... triplets who share their misfortune in being menaced by Olaf and his evil acting troupe.
Llama Llama and friends |
Netflix will also be bringing us an animated version of Max Brallier's The Last Kids on Earth.
Just a few weeks ago, a brand new movie version of Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time brought us across the universe with Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin.
This September, another "oldie but goody" John Bellairs' creepy but fun The House with a Clock in its Walls will get a big screen treatment.
Don't forget, if you do not have Netflix, the library lends out Roku units which offer the app to our patrons. Of course, while we will be getting the DVD versions of these other books when they are available, we have on our shelves the originals for you to read and contrast to decide if the book is indeed better than the movie.
