Memorial Day

 Hello everyone!

Memorial day is Monday, May 31. That's just 5 days away! 

A. Here are some facts about Memorial Day:

Memorial Day honors people who serve our country.

It is observed yearly, on the last Monday in May.

One of the biggest Memorial Day traditions is for a President or Vice president to lay a wreath on the soldiers graves in the largest U.S military burial ground, Arlington National Cemetary in Arlington, Virginia. 

The national holiday got started on May 30, 1868.

It is considered to be the unofficial start to Summer. 


B. Here are some ways that you can honor those who served our country:

Put flags or flowers on graves of people who have served in wars.

Fly the U.S flag at half-mast until noon.

Visit monuments dedicated to soldiers, sailors, and marines.

Participate in the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 PM local time.
