Happy Tiger Day!

Happy International Tiger Day!

July 29th is a day which is celebrated in awareness of Tigers.  These big cats are fast, beautiful and endangered!  In 2010 it was decided that this day would be set aside to raise awareness for tiger conservation.

Maybe today is a good day to come to the library and check out a book about this majestic big cat?

Life-Size Candy Land

We held our first Life-Size Candy Land program last week and it was a big hit!

Kids got to “climb inside” the Candy Land board and travel around through the Lollipop Woods, Peppermint Forest and Chocolate Swamp (and receive candy along the way).

The board

"Gloppy"

"Lollipop Woods"

"Candy Castle"

"Gumdrop Mountains"

"Peppermint Forest"

 The Kids

"Mr. Mint"

"Peanut"

"Plum Tree"

"Lolly"

Special thanks to our Teen Librarian, Mrs. Long, and the teen volunteers who we could not have done it without!

We look forward to doing this program again in the future so keep an eye on our Newsletter.

Groundhog Shenangians

It seems our Summer Reading prizes have been up to a little mischief after the lights go out here in the Children's Room.  This week, our groundhog finger puppets escaped from the drawer and were caught (on camera) playing games, singing songs and dancing.

Here they are playing "London Bridges".

We think one of them is conducting the others in some type of orchestra?

Kickline?  Rockettes?

Singing and dancing to "Rumble in the Bottom".

Hmmm, I wonder what our other prizes do when we're not around?

There is still time to sign up for our Summer Reading Club to receive some of our other fun weekly prizes!
