World Penguin Day

Today, April 25, is World Penguin Day.

Do you have a favorite type of penguin?  Emperor.  Macaroni.  Rockhopper. Stop by the library and check out one of our many informational penguin books and learn more about our flightless friends.

Or, if you would prefer a story, check of one of these adorable picture books:

Don't forget of our most popular penguin movies:

Check out Discovery Channel's Penguin Cam to see what some penguins are doing right now!

Get OUT and PLAY!

Have you noticed this outrageously gorgeous weather? It's SPRING, and the longer days mean more sun and fun in the great outdoors. Do you like to ride your bike? Or play baseball? How about camping? If so, checkout our books on display that cover all the wonderful things you and your family can do OUTSIDE. Perhaps you've always wanted to try rock climbing, surfing, or even mountain biking. We've got just the book for you to help you gear up and get started!
And, when the weather turns a bit rainy, make sure you stop on by and see what's new for you (books, movies, video games) in the Children's Room.
Happy Spring!!

National Bookmobile Day

National Bookmobile Day is part of the weeklong observance of National Library Week (April 8-14), sponsored by the American Library Association to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. Come and visit us during Library Week —tell us why you like coming to the library and pick up a bookmark (while they last)!

Bookmobiles are special to me in particular since they were my first introduction to libraries. Although I grew up in the suburbs, my mother didn’t drive and some of my favorite memories are when we walked to the bookmobile on Wednesdays and Fridays together.

Spring Break

Spring break is almost here so come check out some of our fun filled activities next week in the Children's Room. We are excited for our Titanic Scavenger Hunt starting Monday, April 9th and it runs through Saturday, April 14th. Complete the scavenger hunt and win a cool prize from our steamer trunk.

Keeping up with our Titanic theme we will also be having our "Polar the Titanic Bear by Daisy Spedden." No registration required. Monday, April 9th at 2:30pm. Come in and listen to a true story about a boy and his toy bear, who both survived the Titanic disaster the night of April 14, 1912.

On Tuesday April 10th at 2:30 we will be showing "The Muppets."

We still have spots available for "Dreaming of Summer?" for ages 3 1/2 - 5 years: 10-11 AM and Grades 3-5: 3:30-4:30 PM. Come in and make a decoration for our Children's Room for the Summer Reading Program. We will keep your completed decorations and then display them in our room during the summer.

We look forward to seeing everyone next week.
Happy Passover & Happy Easter!!
